Most manufacturers of baby products are enamored with baby bedding. The reason is not hard to miss. Baby bedding manufacturers provide a vast range of products that parents can choose from for their infants and toddlers alike. This has led to a flood of designs, patterns, styles and textiles for blankets, comforters, bumpers and crib sheets, making it is difficult to make a call on which one to buy.

The underlying motive is to play on the innate desire of parents to provide the best to their offspring. From polyester to cotton to satin crib sheets, you have it all in various styles, sometimes with little regard to baby comfort or safety.

Satin is normally made from silk or rayon and has a glossy face and a dull back. Whereas silk is a natural fiber, rayon is a silk-like synthetic fabric. Satin crib sheets are touted as luxurious products that give an aesthetic look to the nursery. But it is practical to understand that the ‘look’ of the bedding and nursery are least likely to affect your baby. It is all in the mind of the parents who want to show off or people who want to give a flashy gift on baby showers. Obviously, at this stage the most important parameter that you should be concerned with should be the safety and comfort of the baby.

Frankly, satin crib sheets should be avoided as they only look flashy and are not as comfortable as cotton and flannel crib sheets. In addition, satin is an extremely smooth and slippery fabric, and it is difficult to keep it from unraveling once it has been tucked in. Even stayput fitted crib sheets made of satin are likely to dislodge with the slightest movement of the baby’s arms and legs.
